Export and import e-mail

Do you need to move your e-mails, contacts and calendars to a different service?

Sign in to the e-mail service

Go to https://mail.altibox.no. Enter the username (e-mail address) and your password.

Export all the e-mails in a folder

Right-click the folder to export and select «Export This Folder». Do this for each folder you want to export.

This will downloads a compressed file (.zip) containing the e-mails as separate element (.eml).

Exporting e-mails one by one

Click on the desired e-mail and select “Save As…”. The email is now downloaded to your computer in a compressed file.

The downloaded file is a compressed .zip file that contain the e-mails as a separate element (.eml).

Exporting the contact list

A file with the contacts is now downloaded. The file type is LDIF (LDAP Data interchange Format).

Import contact list to another e-mail service

We are not aware of any easy method of importing the contact list to another service. However, you may open the file in Microsoft Excel, edit content (Remove colons that are unwanted), save the file as comma separated (.csv) and try to import this to your preferred email service.

Import e-mails to another e-mail service:

Outlook 365: Make e new folder in Outlook. Open the file. Move each .eml element over to the other folder.
Outlook.com: Guide
Gmail.com: There's no easy way to import e-mail into Gmail. Try forwarding them instead or find intermediary software.

Exporting the calendar

Select «Calendar» from the top menu. Click your personal calendar and select “Export Calendar…”

A file containing events in your calendar is now being downloaded. The file type is .ics (Internet Calendaring and Scheduling Core Object Specification)

Import to another service

Outlook 365: Open the file as a separate calendar. The events can then be moved to your primary calendar. Guide

Exporting the contact list or calendar

You can synchronize your contact list and calendar by using the protocols “CardDAV” and “CalDAV”.

You need the following:

Server: https://mail.altibox.no/SOGo/dav/<epostadressendin>
Username: Username is your email adresse
Password: Password to your email account

This can for example be set up in iOS: Settings | Contacts | Accounts | Add new account | Other
